Wellbeing
At our school, student wellbeing and learning go hand in hand. Botany Public School’s wellbeing framework is built around a whole-school philosophy based on relationships, empathy and resilience. This underpins all aspects of student wellbeing across the school. We do this to create a flourishing and inclusive school community which supports students to become connected, successful and thriving.
Restorative Practices
Relationships and wellbeing form the basis for quality teaching and learning at Botany PS. With an explicit focus on building positive relationships between staff and students, teachers ensure they work WITH students, demonstrating high levels of both control and support.
School Rules and Aspirations
At Botany Public School, our aspirations inspire us to strive for excellence and guide us to make positive, respectful choices - even in challenging social situations.
Our school rules set clear and consistent expectations across the school. Reflective conversations, based on the principles of restorative practices, ensure we learn from the mistakes made and students are given the opportunity to ‘make things right’.
Social and Emotional Learning Programs
At Botany Public School, our Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) programs help students develop important life skills such as empathy, resilience, perseverance, and self-control. We use the evidence-based Second Step program, which teaches students how to manage emotions, solve problems, and build positive relationships. Alongside this, the Grow Your Mind program introduces students to key concepts of mental health and wellbeing through engaging, age-appropriate lessons that promote self-awareness, mindfulness, and a growth mindset. Together, these programs support students to become confident, caring, and capable learners.
